CONTINENTAL POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICERS:
Chief of Police: Randy Weller
Chief Weller is a graduate of Continental High School. He obtained his peace officer certification through the Paulding Police Academy in January of 1993. Chief Weller began his law enforcement career as a part-time patrolman with the Paulding Police Department and as an Auxiliary Deputy with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. In August of 1993, Weller was offered a full-time Corrections Officer Position with the Sheriff’s Office and earned a Road Deputy position in November of 1993 where he worked until his retirement in September of 2023. During his 30 years at the Sheriff’s Office, he served and fulfilled numerous specialties such as the commander of the Special Response Team, Firearms Instructor, Evidence Technician and Sniper.
While serving the county, Chief Weller received numerous awards including a Lifesaving award in 1994 for saving a man who was lost in a snowstorm, he received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Award six times, many certificates of merit and commendations. He was Named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the Ohio American Legion in 1995. Chief Weller was also a founding member of the Putnam County Honor Guard. Weller has also always taken a special interest in school safety and has been assisting with ALICE trainings throughout Putnam County for the last 13 years.
Chief Weller is a member of the Ohio Association of Chief of Police, Putnam County Police Chiefs Association, Ohio Tactical Officers Association, and National Rifle Association. In his free time, Chief Weller enjoys hunting, farming, competitive shooting and teaching gun safety to individuals that are new to shooting sports.

GOLF CART INSPECTION
The police department can inspect your golf cart and you will be provided with the necessary paperwork to take to the clerk of courts for title issuance and registration. Golf carts can be operated on the village streets as adopted by the Village of Continental Ordinance.
POLICE GRANTS:
All of the current and past police radios since 2002 mobile and portables, have come via grants. The grants have saved Continental tax payers over $22,000.00
